6 Of The Freshest New Sneakers Dropping This Month

By Sammy Preston

There's a lot happening in the world of sneakers these days. Like, Lil Nas X's "Satan Shoes" containing real human blood, and a high-profile lawsuit (now resolved) with Nike over said "Satan Shoes". Then, there's the emerging category of digital sneakers. They can't be worn but they can be bought and even collected as pricey NFTs. These are, without a doubt, wild times.

If you're a hype beast that's just here for the regular, run-of-the-mill sneaker drop, we got you. This month, Stan Smith has gone green with recycled materials and a collab with some of the world's most beloved green characters, adidas is dropping "stoned" sneakers with a secret stash pocket, and the pumped-up Nike Air More Uptempo gets a slick Chicago Bulls refresh.

Here are six fresh sneakers dropping this month.

Editor’s Pick: Nike Air More Uptempo "Renowned Rhythm"

Release Date: April TBC
Shop: Nike

Sure, Jordans are iconic—but the Uptempo is one of my favourite Nike silhouettes. They are a maximalist treat and an ode to 90s basketball style, the Bulls, and to the legendary Scottie Pippen himself. This month, the standard (but awesome) black-with-white-piping colourway is getting a refresh, switching to brilliant white with varsity red "Air" lettering. Originally pinned to drop Thursday 15 April, Nike SNKRS has since removed details—but fingers crossed we'll see 'em sometime this month. South Park X adidas Campus 80s "Towelie"

Release Date: April 20
Shop: adidas

Inspired by South Park's beloved stoner towel Towelie, these fuzzy Campus 80s are slated to release on Tuesday 20 April (that's 4/20, in case you missed it). Wrapped in mauve terry toweling, Towelie's eyes turn bloodshot and red under UV light. So yeah, your sneakers will look stoned. These also feature a hidden stash pocket. Winning.

Nike Dunk Low "Green Glow"

Release Date: April 16
Shop: Nike

This glowing seafoam green is such an epic colour. Generously applied to the forever-classic Dunk Low in a women's-only release, these feel like the perfect pop-bright mood to see you through the winter.

Stan Smith "Mike"

Release Date: April 1
Shop: adidas

Stan Smith purists might scoff at these—but who doesn't love a Monsters, Inc. shout out? To celebrate the Three Stripes Stan Smith moving on to much greener materials (like a Primegreen upper, made from at least 50% recycled materials), they've buddied up with a raft of green Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar characters for a limited edition drop. The Tinkerbell and Kermit the Frog editions are also a vibe. Shop here

Nike Air Jordan 1 "Hyper Royal"

Release Date:
Shop: Nike and Subtype

Another dreamy hue from Nike, the Air Jordan 1 "Hyper Royal" was teased in October last year. With smooth white leather and sky blue suede, Jordan stans need this drop in their collection. Shop here at Nike, or here at Subtype

Kim Jones X Converse Chuck 70

Release Date: April 8
Shop: Converse

“The design approach for the shoe was very straightforward—taking a classic shoe and then almost encasing it in something to protect it,” says Kim Jones on his spin on the iconic Chuck. Featuring a transparent TPU cage, and a reengineered diamond grid for extra traction, these shoes are built for a post-2020 world. Shop here
